Lavender Essential Oil Benefits & Uses

Around the world, Lavender essential oil is by far the most popular of all the oils used today. But its use is not just so recent. The benefits of Lavender oil have been known for over 2,500 years! Lavender oil benefits are varied and vast. It has antioxidant, antimicrobial, sedative, calming and anti-depressive properties and has been used for centuries therapeutically and cosmetically.

Lavender essential oil was really my first essential oil and still probably my most favorite of all the oils… and that's saying something!

Lavender's (Lavandula angustifolia) scent is such a familiar and wonderful aroma of fresh floral combined with clean and calm. The native aroma of lavender is a staple scent for soaps, all kinds of beauty products, perfumes, air fresheners and much more. This is what makes this flower such a popular choice and a perfect choice as a starter oil… and quite frankly a must have essential oil for any home!

Yes, Lavender essential is one of my absolute favorites, but not solely because of its classic scent. Its versatility ranges from skin care products to my own personal relaxing routines. As you know by now, since I have been using and incorporating essential oils into my life and my daily routines, I cannot fathom not having them in my life. In fact, I would say if you could only ever have one essential oil to use… make it Lavender essential oil. In fact, carrying a bottle of lavender around with you is like having your own personal first aid kit, perfume and pick-me-up!

  • For me, there is nothing like adding 4 drops of Lavender essential oil with a cup of Epsom to my hot bath… it's like being at a spa!
  • Completely unwind using the oil with a neck and back massage.
  • Add a few drops to any of your skin care products, lotions, or shampoo.
  • You can make your own body scrub with Lavender essential oil, coconut oil, and sugar.
  • Make Lavender a part of your evening routine. Rub some of the oil on the bottoms of your feet or even make a spritzing solution with distilled water and spray a little on your pillow. I sometimes just use a little on a cotton swab and put it next to my pillow.
  • Needless to say, Lavender is a great room freshener. Just diffuse it to help eliminate stale odors.
